Great question, tumblr user dogelbows. Selling glasses is pretty shitty, mostly. A lot of the time people come in knowing exactly what they want, which is great for when they havent just made up a pair of frames that doesn’t exist and insist that we should have them in stock/we are failures/terrible people. Other times people don’t want glasses at all and cry and refuse to try them on or are just like whatever I don’t even care what glasses I have. In these cases I find them the most ridiculously bad looking frames possible so the patient look as irritating as he or she is. The worst are the people who try on every frame in the fucking store, staring at themselves in the mirror and mumbling about the frames making their face look fat. At this point I default to pushing Ray Bans on them and saying things like “these are very fashion forward” or “these make you look so much younger/older” or “smart! Those sure look sharp!” They look at me and say “do you really think so?” I nod sincerely and say some variation of “yeah, way cool.”
Other things are pretty good I guess.
